Traveling these days are not as easy as before, especially that now there are a lot of risks involved when traveling to domestic or international destinations. For those who can not avoid going out due to business trips or for some who are still going out for leisure or vacations , we need to remind them to follow the safety protocols during Covid -19 and see to it that they are fully vaccinated before they travel or if they can’t have the vaccine at this time and can’t postpone their scheduled travel, they must choose the safer travel options and recommendations set by the country of their destination.
Here are some precautionary measures to follow and to protect yourself when you travel.
- BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
- Before your trip, ensure that you get a viral test at least 1-3 days before your flight or departure. Ensure that the negative PCR test for COVID-19 health document is in English or it is translated in the language that can be understood by the country of your destination.
- Know the requirements and the safety protocols for Covid 19 of country of your destination. Be aware of all their health advisories and travel guidelines.
- Be sure to have taken all vaccinations that are essential to protect your immune system. Take your supplements and vitamins especially your Vitamin C.
- Arrive early at the airport to follow security protocols.
- DURING TRAVEL
- Wear your mask properly covering both your nose and mouth especially on close places like on planes, buses, trains and other forms of public transportation and also other transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
- Most airlines recommend to go for web check-in, for your safety.
- Observe social distance, maintain at least three feet of a distance from the next traveller.
- Always carry with you sanitizers, gloves, and mini soap gel for frequent hand washing. Some countries recommend hand washing every 30 minutes for about 20 seconds.
- Avoid crowding, especially in the aircraft. You may wear or take with you some portable personal air purifier for clean fresh air within your 1 meter radius.
- Refrain from touching your eyes, nose or mouth if you have not yet wash your hands.
- Always cough or sneeze into your elbow . If you feel any symptoms of fever, cough, and breathlessness, immediately report to the nearest medical authority.
- AFTER YOU TRAVEL
- Get tested again for a viral test with in 3-5 days after your travel and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
- Even if your test was negative, stay home and self-quarantine for full 7 days.
- If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
- If you don’t get tested, stay home and self quarantine for 10 days after travel.
- Whether you get tested or not, stay away from people who are at high risk for severe illness for 14 days.
- Self-monitor for COVID 19 symptoms: isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
- Carry travel insurance for your emergency needs.
- Get tested again for a viral test with in 3-5 days after your travel and stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
